Graphic Design Gets Some BIG Love in Alaska

Anchorage, AK – Mad Dog Graphx was honored to win a Silver Award for logo design at the eighth annual AIGA Alaska statewide design competition, The BIG One. The competition took place this past weekend at the Church of Love, and featured a field of entries including logos, annual reports, web designs, posters, advertisements, and promotional designs.

Mad Dog’s winning work was our logo and branding for the Chicken Shack, the newest and hippest eatery to open in Anchorage’s trendy Spenard district. Aurora Hablett designed the logo and its applications – from environmental graphics, merchandise, and menus to digital graphics and print advertising.

AIGA Alaska held the 2018 award reception for The BIG One at the Church of Love in Spenard.

Judges for the competition included Dana Arnett, national president of AIGA and vice chairman and founding partner at VSA Partners in Chicago, San Francisco, and New York; Douglas Davis, educator, author, and founder of The Davis Group, based in Brooklyn, NY; and Shauna Keating, UX designer at Moonfarmer, a digital development studio in Kingston, NY.

The quality of work entered this year was exceptional. Congratulations to all the winners – especially Erin Hamilton and Sarah Lindsey, who took home this year’s Best of Show.
