The BIG One 2015 Celebrates Alaska Designers

Anchorage, AK – The BIG One, AIGA Alaska’s sixth annual statewide design competition, was held at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts this year, and the turnout was incredible. More than 100 of this year’s entries were on display for the reception, and guest judge Keetra Dean Dixon shared the dais with AIGA Alaska president Colleen Shannon to help hand out the awards.

Congratulations to all the winners, especially the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center – winner of the Best of Show award.

Founded in 1914, AIGA is the oldest and largest professional association for design. AIGA works nationally through local chapters to advance design as a professional craft, strategic advantage, and vital cultural force. Mad Dog is proud to be a founding member of AIGA Alaska.

MDG Wins Six 2015 MarCom Awards

Mad Dog Graphx won six honors in the 2015 Marcom Awards. The logo we designed for Identity, Inc. for their 1+1 Alaska initiative won Platinum, as did our own recent Mad Dog website redesign. Annual reports for Anchorage Project Access and OTZ Telephone Cooperative of Kotzebue, Alaska won Gold, along with the 2014–15 concert season poster series for Alaska Youth Orchestras. An updated logo design for Food Bank of Alaska won an honorable mention.  MORE

Cloudberry: 
Growing a Startup

Delaney Thiele, founder and designer at Cloudberry, is partly of Yup’ik and Athabaskan descent, and takes inspiration from her Alaska Native heritage when choosing the materials and patterns for her line of handcrafted beaded earrings.   MORE
